>>Yeah, but how could they predict that a soulless human would go
insane, and emotionally scar a child?<<
Maybe they didn't predict it. Maybe they KNEW, having already tested it.
And they didn't predict that the insanity would emotionally scar a
child. The used the insanity to scar.
>>Besides, the evidence points to her being chosen because of her
mother's soul being in the EVA.<<
Can you state the evidence?
There's just as much evidence to back this statement:
Asuka wasn't chosen because her mother's soul was in the EVA. Her
mother's soul was put into the EVA because she was chosen.
The anti-soul theory doesn't argue with the RCB, which states explicitly
that EVAs UNIT-01 and 02 have souls. The anti-soul theory does say that
the souls aren't required. Read more carefully.
>>There IS evidence for the soul theory. Occam's razor. What ever is
simpler, is more likely.<<
My statement doesn't increase the complication level as is given by NGE.
It just twists the interpretation of the events a little.
>>So, Shinji was one step away from not being a pilot. In Episode 1,
Shinji pretty much was against entering the EVA. If what you are saying
is true, they'd have shaped him so that he'd want to please his father,
enter the Unit01, and fight Sachiel. Heck, they'd have made him a
perfect pilot, and train him! Your theory doesn't hold much water...<<
You haven't been reading my previous posts, have you? The childhood
trauma theory (working within the set of interpretations as given by the
anti-soul theory) states that NERV's actions toward the pilots have two
goals:
a) To maximize the amount of primal rage in the pilot.
b) To prevent any security leak that might result from the pilots
knowing how they were manipulated.
This involves invoking the pilots' anger and doing it as simply as
possible. Gendo knows that Shinji is angry at him. He just increases the
anger by treating the boy the way he does. Why would they train him to
be the perfect pilot? Doing so would probably raise Shinji's confidence
a lot, but it'd also decrease the primal rage (the confidence would).
>>Ok, they are willing to force a form of evolution on humanity, N2
cities, kill over ONE HALF OF LIFE ON EARTH(2nd impact...)and you think
that they'd care about some kids?<<
Do we know SEELE/NERV caused the second impact? Perhaps, perhaps. But
did they KNOW the second impact would result by their actions? Maybe
not. Or maybe they did. If they did, they probably did it as a form of
sacrifice, as they sacrificed the children of NERV. What makes you think
they were inhuman?
>>If you mean to say that the soul theory has no proof, well, I've given
you lines in the series that point to it being true. I have seen no
lines in which any character references to your theory. I don't see
Fuyutsuki talking about controlling Shinji's personality, or Keel
talking about the success of shaping Asuka. There is NO PROOF AT ALL!<<
The anti-soul theory is true by the same pieces of evidence that the
soul theory is. Everything that proves one true proves the other as
well. I personally made sure of that.
You ask me for evidence? I have none. There's nothing in the series to
prove the childhood trauma theory either false or true. I'm merely
stating that it's a possibility, and that it's one that I will protect.
