1) [snip] In "Air" he has the increasingly depressed and hopeless tone
that permeates through the rest of the film. More of a "I wan't you to
help me even though I *know* you won't"

## Well, the scene when Shinji ended up strangling Asuka in his
## inner world has a similiar theme: Shinji asked for Asuka's help,
## but Asuka refused to help because she thought Shinji relied too
## much on other people.

2) Misato walking down the hall (CG background I believe) is differant
then the one in Rebirth (unless my D&R tape was really that bad).
Personally, I liked the CG hallway in "Rebirth" better then the one in
"Air".

## "walking down the hall"? When? I only remember Misato running down
## the hall, shooting and saving Shinji.

3) Asuka Death scene: Very intense... I experianced it during Otakon,
but I had been up 48hrs straight so not much affected me, but seeing it
in crisp, clean, detail was very disturbing. Thought the way they made
people think Eva-02 would go berserk and then suddenly slicing her arm
in half was quite cruel.... but very effective.

## Hmm... I still have difficulty thinking Asuka really met her
## death in "Air". EVA-02 is gone. There is no doubt about that.
## But I wonder whether Asuka really died there.

4) Shinji screaming.... wow.

## Makes one wonder how much effort those VA's put into generating
## the proper effect. I watched a Japanese TV programme on "Mononoke
## Hime" and in it I saw how much time and practice the VA's screamed
## and yelled to get the right emotion for the moment in the anime.

6) Overall I found the film emotionally draining. I did notice however,
that all the characters that die in "Air" did it with great honor.
Misato died defending Shinji. Asuka died defending the human race.
Ritsuko died while attempting to save humanity (another incredibly cruel
moment in EoE) and facing off against Gendou.

## Again I am not sure whether Asuka did die in EOE. Also, I don't
## think Ritsuko died with "great honour" because I think that
## Ritsuko tried to shoot Gendou mostly, if not totally, because
## of personal vengeance reason. I don't think she really meant
## saving the humanity. And she died a "dog's death", achieving
## nothing in the process.
