[EVA] Strange thought

I was researching hotels in Tokyo for my eventual trip and a thought
just occurred to me. Shinji has a bed, but Asuka sleeps on a futon
mattress. Does this strike anyone as odd? 

Shinji has a WESTERN STYLE bedroom, while Asuka has a JAPANESE STYLE
bedroom. 0_o  Asuka even mentions that she thinks it's wierd for the
Japanese to sleep on the floor, but Shinji, the next door over, has a
bed.

I wonder if this was intentional.
