Well, Kaworu is not Rei. As I said, I applied a theory about the angels.
Adam's soul might have this characteristic that Lilith's has not. However, I
recognize that it is a bit stretched. In the original script, Shinji's whole
class (those left in the city anyway) was meant to be transferred to Germany
some weeks before the attack of the MPs (scary thought, huh?). There is no
trace of that solution in the show so let's not consider it.

Otherwise, we may just assume that dummy-ed Evas don't have an ATField (see

To my knowledge, he describes it as "The walls of the soul" and what keeps
individuals as such. Elimination of ATFields leads to fusion of souls, not
just minds.

I have another idea, instead. When Makoto and Shigeru report, in EoE, that
ATFields from the MPs are resonating (and inverting) with "Rei"'s, Fuyutsuki
comments something along the lines of "Has the fusion with Rei commenced?"
or "Did they start merging with Rei?". Now, one possibility is that at that
point the MPs become appendages of "Rei" and from that point they produce
ATfields (and by extension AntiAtfields) as she does. We see them disform
and produce a multitude of Rei faces, and that might mean that they already
are one with her. How? "Rei" has Adam's body, and possibly Adam's soul. This
might help her to relate to beings made from Adam like the MPs. This means
that no Eva, including the MPs, has an ATField while it is dummy-piloted,
and therefore the MPs, during the fight with Asuka, didn't either. They gain
that ability the moment they become part of the red earth ceremony.
