No real connection otherwise, this reminds me of Neal Stephenson's
semi-well-know science fiction book "Snow Crash". Among other things, it
features a "meta-virus", which has three different representations; as a
biological virus, as a computer virus, and as a meme, and is contagious across
these different forms.

Perhaps this is not meant to be taken as "scientific" description, but as a
metaphor? It reminds me of the other times evolution (and death) is mentioned
in Eva. I cannot help feeling that it'd be possible to dig out a very profound
message from it, if only I was a bit smarter. OTOH, that's the way I feel
about most of Eva... 8)
