[EVA] Umm... the Lance came from Adam. ^^;

*sigh*
After posting the L=S^2P, I was looking back over the SI scene in the
DEATH filmbook again, and found something which I should have noticed
before, and which explains the origins of the Lance.
The scientists' conversation on page 7 of the DEATH filmbook (red
characters on right side of page) is as follows:
(SCENE: UN Underground Base - Antarctica)
"The Super Solenoid theory proposed by Professor Katsuragi?"
"It's just too far-fetched!"
"It's still just a theory..."
"Still, the S2 theory 'is' the only way to explain the source of that
giant's power."
"And it's already been proven - even if it was by accident."
"The fact that it exists means that it must be accepted."
"I'll accept it when and only when all the data has been verified."
"What about the Lance of Longinus?"
"It's still where it was brought ashore after arriving from the Dead Sea
last week."
"Isn't some processing necessary before taking the Lance underground?
Will it be okay?"
"The physical contact experiment *with the provider* is scheduled for
the 13th of next month. There's plenty of time for any adjustment."
"Today's experiment is the Field ego boundary signal, isn't it?"
"That's right."
People who have read my translation of the Director's Cut scenes will
notice the added words "with the provider" (added when translating the
new material in the DEATH filmbook).
Anyone having access to a DEATH filmbook can check this, but the
Japanese characters "teikyousha (= provider/donor (ie: organ))" are
found at the start of the 11th line from the right. When I originally
translated the Director's Cut scenes, I did not have access to the
printed script, and was also of the opinion that Adam, Lilith and the
Lance were separate entities (even though I think that Adam and Lilith
were originally one being that split). The concept that the Lance might
have originally come from Adam never crossed my mind, so I translated it
simply as "physical contact experiment."
When I translated/reviewed the new scenes in the DEATH filmbook, I still
wasn't sure what/who they meant by "teikyousha" but thought that it
might refer to SEELE having provided the Lance and being present at the
contact experiment, so I added "with the providers" in order to give as
much information as possible. However, the literal translation is
"physical contact with the provider". (Gendo and the other SEELE members
also left the day before SI, and would therefore not have been present
during the contact experiment.)
Further, the D&R Deluxe movie program states that the Lance appeared to
have originally been found in Antarctica, which I had thought to be a
mistake because the scientists said it was brought ashore from the Dead
Sea. However, if it was originally part of Adam (ie: Adam's S^2 engine)
which was removed, taken to the Dead Sea for some processing, and then
returned to Antarctica to use in waking him up, this would make sense.
Thus, taken together with the L=S^2P, the Lance is indeed a naked S^2
engine -- the S^2 engine of a SoL, no less, which helps explain it's
size, power and apparent indestructability.

there is always some new snippet of information waiting to be found."
