Uh, it's Ebj, but that's a nitpick. The issue of Unit-00 was never cleared, and
it's open to interpretation. The fact that the Eva behaves improperly around
those who happen to be connected to Gendou and Yui ca hint that possibility,
that Naoko be the soul in it. However, as I said, it could also be that it was
Rei's mental image in the core that made it do so. As it is said, Rei wishes
that her existance as a tool reaches an end, and knows that she can be replaced.
IMHO, she was really emotionally unstable at the time of the first synch test,
and her uncoscious had the Eva behave so that it would attack Gendou, and it
would kill her (expulsion of the plug). In the second case, it is Rei the target
of the attack, and maybe Ritsuko too, after all she's in charge of the dummy
system as well.
