What about in the series where we see one 1/2 a body (if you're right about
the duality thing)?  Or around second impact, adam is in antarctica and
lilith presumably in the geofront.  The idea of it just being a reflection
fits rather well.

Maybe it's a twist Anno threw to us on purpose?
