[EVA] I just don't see it

I've spent the last few days watching EVA over again and something occurred 
to me. Where the does that Maya/Ritsuko stuff come from?
Okay, I haven't seen the movies, but I don't see one thing between those two 
that could be construed as romantic. Heck, I see more subtext between Misato 
and Ritsuko than between her an Maya. Of course, I've got a dirty mind. So 
can someone please point out anything that gives this Maya/Ritsuko stuff any 
credence.
