why?  i reckon i dont know much but dont u think sailor moon and dbz are
much more of a real land mark for anime.  this is just one city, probably on
a crappy channel.  not trying to be a smart ass, but the best years of my
life go by here i am alone and blue.

Check out this little tidbit I found at Animenation.

Studio Gainax's 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series is set to make it's
first-ever U.S. Television Broadcast starting, Sunday, March 5th at 9PM on
KTEH-54, in the San Francisco, California area.

Since Americans hate subtitles, I'm guessing this is going to be the dub.
Still, this is a real landmark for anime in the US.
