[EVA] Winglets and their purpose

I am going to blame myself for this one. I rather doubt I was clear enough
when I wrote the original message. So let me see if I can do a better job
this time around.

You apparently misunderstood that I was refuting the original theory that
the winglets acted as bindings.

The term you are looking for to describe "those spiky bullet-like things"
is a flechette type device (I may have goofed the spelling here), which is
basically the equivalent of a giant shotgun shell with rods instead of
pellets. Unless I am mistaken and if I am please correct me but nowhere
and I do mean nowhere in the series do they ever state specifically that
they are mere weapon caches. It is good speculation giving what we do know
about the evas but as far as I can recall this is not a definite fact and
therefore should not be treated as such. Please try and be at least a
little open to new theories, it is how we grow. It doesn't entirely make
sense to me to mount the weapons in fins like that because when the eva
pushes its arm back the fin rotates down obscuring part of its view to that
particular side which would be considered a bad thing in a combat
situation. Although looking at them again they do appear to be offset back
enough to get rid of most of this visual problem but there is still some
peripheral visual loss which would have been bad.

I don't understand this one at all you are saying that when they found Adam
in the Antartic they fitted him with weapons pods so that they could use
him as a weapon. Second Impact occurred before the Eva's were developed.
It is rather unlikely that at the time of Second Impact that they would
have known enough about Adam to have wanted to outfit him with weapon pods
and use him as a weapon. However, it does seem likely that they may have
wanted some way to restrain this unkown being (Adam) but once again that
doesn't explain why Unit 00 would not have a similar restraint unless they
felt it was unneccessary in a unit designed primarily for testing. I leave
it to somebody else though that remembers more about those scenes to add
further reasons why this unlikely.

Thank you that is what I meant by nitpicking. This is based on actual
fact. I never said that a lack of a binding system was the only reason for
Unit 00 to do strange things but it could very well be part of the reason.

> 2) The whole of the armor is used to bind the Eva.

This is true as far as we can tell.

Once again no proof of this unless there are some eva blueprints out there
that I don't know about. Although, it is true that at least someof the
space must be taken up for these things.

Once again I would like to remind you that this is a discussion list and
that in order to do that there must be give and take. I am willing to
listen to any theory that has some reasonibility.
