That's yet another way to see things, I personally don't agree. The way I
see it, Yui wanted Shinji to be the one to start it because she trusted him.

If Shinji's in any wa in control of something more than others there and
then, his complementation might actually have had a different timespan than
the others'...

No, they should've been chased from Eden to a life of pain but they actually
come from a life of pain and do learn, the hardest possible way, how to cope
with it, growing up, and how to try and seek joy in it.

In fact, it wouldn't quite make sense to have everybody choose death over
life for fear of pain in a show whom message ought to be the contrary.

To be exact, how the y*could* return. But this is a pointless remark, for
once I must agree with Christopher, some things are more obvious than
others, and in this case the support does not come from another
interpretable concept, but from the message (ok, the main message among the
many) of the show itself. It would be pointless if they didn't return.
