Hmmm... Thats not how I saw it, It seemed to me, that shinji learnt to be
happy
by ceasing his self hatred and realising that the viewpoint you hold creates
the
reality you experience. That happiness and pain are relative to attitude. It
seemed
to me that shinji learned to escape from his self destructive fantasy world
into a
more positive outlook on the world outside. I supposed, on viewing the
episode the
first time, that now prepared for life, Shinji would move on and live. (The
descent
into the ahtman to understand self?-Any eastern metaphysics students care to
comment?)
