Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original "drooling" over a fanfic
(either intended or written)? If so, like it or not, fanfiction is part
of EVA. Fanfiction is designed the explore the possibilities within
another universe. Storylines change. Characters are usually out of
character. Nonexistent relationsips suddenly exist (or take a long and
painful time in developing). The future is dictated. Rules mandated by
the series are always broken, thus the beauty of fanfiction. Rei and
Asuka fans can finally read something they wished they could have seen in
the actual series.

Again, idle fantasies. So what? Write about it. Read about it. Discuss
it. We're here just as much for possibilities are we are for concrete
evidence. If you don't deem certain topics worth your time, don't read
"Been around the block a few times in the fanfic world."
