I'm not sure whether or not I agree with Avery (and I can't say I have any
knowledge of previous "EVA is all a dream" theories or much philosophy) however
these objections do not disprove the hypothesis. The EVA series could well be
all part of Instrumentality, Shinji's struggle to decide whether or not living
in a world with AT fields is part of his Instrumentality, however it is also
part of the entire series. One could then suppose that the entire series is part
of an Instrumentality-like event.

The fact that Shinji wants others AT fields to exist does not necessitate that
these people must exist inside his fantasy world. If his journey in said world
is part of his decision to want others' AT fields then he can simultaneously
want them and still not have them whilst in his "dream" (for want of a better
word).
