It's unclear. We *do* know that she became LCL. We *do* know that her soul
entered UNIT-01 as a result of her sync. We don't know for sure the causes
of the accident, if indeed it *was* an accident.

Rei was constructed from genetic material left in Yui's entry plug. Have you
looked through the Red Cross Book yet? I get the feeling you're ignoring any
