Once again you've gone and decided to be confrontational. I've said this. I
am taking an extended amount of time to work on a.. paper.. if you will, on
EVA to present to this list. Reason being I don't want to bicker back and
forth with a bunch of people question by question. I just don't have time to
do that sort of thing right now. So instead I'm going to make a large
manifestation of all my thoughts, opinions, and comments about these various
threads and slam it all into one big squishy package. I just have one comment
for this post which would be about the red book. Okay its considered
"canon".. spiffy. Does that mean I can't feel a different way about
something? For example.. the canon of the major religions of the world is a
big steaming pile of bullshit in my opinion. (Sorry religious people.) That
does not mean I haven't looked at it and drawn conclusions about what they're
about from between the lines. Great the creators wanted to release a book
about EVA more power to them. But I just watch the show and the movies and to
me.. that is EVA. I don't mind people quote the red book, in fact i rather
enjoy it since I didn't know about it until this list. But that doesn't mean
I have to conform all my idea's to fit that book's guidelines. Look at works
of literature you'll go over in any English class. You're teacher (if they're
any good) might offer some really great interpretation of the work. Now the
writer may have been dead for several thousand years and simply left the
book. So if people get more out of the work than "Here is the story of a
family that's really messed up and they kill eachother and have incestuous
relations and kick the crap out of the sphinx, etc., etc." what is so wrong
with that? (Oedipus Mr. Hough. would mention Bud but no one has read that.)
So anyhow it's homecoming weekend, I probably won't have this collection of
ideas ready for you for a while. I have a core paper and a few exams to knock
out of the way first. So I guess ya'll just have to sit tight. I'll try and
make it worth the wait.
