Tsuramaki says: "Shinji, he gets summoned by his father to ride a
robot, and Anno was summoned by GainAx to make a big animation show
after he had had a problem with Nadia of the Mysterious Seas and
didn't know if he still wanted to direct."
Does anyone know more about this? What happened with Anno and Nadia?
Let's see... Nadia finished up its run in 1991 (not sure when the
movie came out), and Eva started airing Fall of 1995 - thus, four
years or so in between. This may be related to that quote from
Anno's explanation/apology for Evangelion included by Viz with the
first volume of the Eva manga:
"I tried to include everything of myself in Neon Genesis Evangelion -
myself, a broken man who could do nothing for four years.
A man who ran away for four years, one who was simply not dead."
Anyone know anything?
