Are you sure that Adam was on a cross?  I never heard anything like that.  I 
thought he was just sleeping in Antarctica or something.  Also, I heard that 
the Lance was found by the Dead Sea and then transported to Antarctica for 
use in the experiment on Adam.  I don't recall Rei using the Lance on 
Lillith in any of the episodes, although she does take it out of Lillith and 
use it to destroy the space dwelling angel that psychicly attacks Auska.

I can't think of any particular series reference, but there's a good example 
in the Drama track, if you've heard that or read the transcript. :)
