You are right. I appologize. Reflagged the top of the message.

If Yui had a decent degree of control, do you think she would have allowed
Shinji to wipe out humanity?

Yes, this comment was made. The question is, are these the characters
themselves or the versions of them within Shinji's mind? The show does make
that distinction, that every person is to those around them only as they
appear in the other person's mind, through the filter of perception.
So, if these are Shinji head trip characters, anything they say is suspect.
If they are the real deal, then they're still wrong. The souls are in orbit
around Earth, that ethereal ribbon of red light. The LCL is simply
byproduct. The souls are still in orbit. Now if the souls are supposed to be
able to come down any time they feel like it, that certainly wasn't implied
in the movi.

I suppose this would make a good panel question but I doubt we'd ever get a
straight answer. :)

That's to be expected. The Japanese are obsessed over giant mecha. If they
can be turned into cute super-deformed toys that's all the better. Far as
I'm aware, the Japanese do not yet have a fetish for memorial robots in
space. Give 'em more time?
