Of course! Misato cannot have seen Adam during the impact as she only regained 
consciousness a second or two before her dad shut the hatch. And yet she thinks 
she recognises "Adam". In the same way that Shinji was allowed to see Unit 01 
as a young child (except without the repression of the memory - because she was 
older?), Dr Katsuragi must have let Misato come with him down into the White 
Moon cavern, at least once, to see Adam, in whatever condition and/or position 
he was resting in. Whatever he looked like at that time, it must have been more 
like Lilith than an Eva (i.e. the Giant of Light) or would not seeing an Eva 
with its pauldrons attached have evoked the same response as we see from her in 
Terminal Dogma?

I wonder if in episode 22 she recognises the Lance from back then also, or just 
from general high-level NERV information...
