[EVA] & Battle Royale (OT)

BATTLE ROYALE!

Has to be one of the best films I've seen in my live, _BUT_ (Looks around 
for armed otakus who don't like the word "but") I think I missed the EVA 
references in the film... or at least "Shuya" ("Shinji-esque character... 
apparantly?)

Main differences between him and Shinji:

1). Shinji's father is a control freak, and I think it's fair to say that 
Shinji for the most part is his puppet (at the very least "being manipulated 
a bit")

Without going into any details that might spoil "B.R." Shuya's father's 
actions bear little resemblance to Gendo's at all!

2). At no point in the series (far as i can remember) does Shinji defend 
himself with a pan lid...

3). Shuya doesn't have a penguin for a roommate. (Yes, PETTY, I KNOW...)

Although the more I think about it, the more co-relations I can come up with 
between "B.R." and EVA.

1). Teenagers with little choice other than to fight.

2). Memorable male and female leads.

3). Strickly speaking, the school girls are always in their uniforms... now 
if they dyed their hair blue and got crimson contact lenses...

Naah.

for the record though, BATTLE ROYAL is a film I can't recommend enough. Go 
see it.

I saw it about two months ago, it was being shown for two weeks in the Irish 
Film Centre in Templebar, Dublin...
