Hmm... so even though Shinji wanted to return to the real world - he was
Complemented anyway?

Oh yes, I agree. I remember discussion on this topic not all that long
ago here... Or is my mind playing tricks on me?
Although - I still think the most ridiculous theory was the "Shinji is a
clone" one.

Indeed. Like I said, it's based on a goofed image that can be easily
referenced and a lack of common sense. I thought it was a dead theory,
but it reared its head again in another forum and where it was linked to
a few websites that are now promoting it. *sigh*
