Sorry, I don't normally delve into the
details/mechanics of Eva that much, but do we know for
certain what Instrumentality as planned by Gendou was
supposed to achieve?

In any event, I would've thought Gendou's primary
purpose was not so much to do with humanity as a
personal goal of reuniting with Yui.  Whatever other
people may have chosed to do, I think Gendou knew that
he would want to remain in a world where he could be
with Yui.

Further, your question seems to assume things in TV
episode 26 went according to Gendou's plan.  To what
extent can we take into account Rei's intervention?
