Well, not a bad idea, but the target is IMO misplaced: Shinji is basically a
representation of Anno, and the people surrounding him too represent Anno's
emotions, experiences, potentials etc, and also some of the key figures in his
life (Anno's father too lost a leg and spoke Kansai-ben like Touji, and so on).
