Yeah, after the first page or two I just started skimming.  He tried to 
explain basically everything in the show as a symbol for something else.  It 
was like English Literature class on crack, or something.  Although he 
obviously put some time and thought into it, his theories don't seem to have 
any congruity, they don't pull together.  The part that I read seemed to 
have a lot of little ideas, but there was no main idea to pull them 
together.  Anywho, it seems to me that some people who really like this 
series seem to find more symbolism in it than Anno actually intended.  You 
can kindof see this in interviews with people from Gainax who worked on the 
show.  There will be a question about something that has a common fan 
interpretation and the person being interviewed basically says "Um, no, it's 
just this.  There wasn't supposed to be any meaning behind it.  We just 
thought it looked cool."  This especially applies to basically ALL of the 
christian symbols in NGE.
