I don't believe that it's ever been stated whether or not Lilith has an S>2
engine. One would think that she does, as it was stated that her soul was
placed in Rei, and that's it. Unless there is a soul/S>2 connection. If you
recall from EoE, the Lance is still needed (or is at least an integral part of
some type) to initiate the Third Impact (or to initiate one in which Unit 01
could be transformed into the Tree of Life), and Unit 01 already has an S>2.
So unless Bochan's game card tranlations say otherwise (or some other canon
source), I don't recall the true nature of the Lance ever having been proven
beyond conjecture.
