Which is why I wasn't too big on the idea we were seeing Eva-01 growing
from Lilith (or, why I liked the idea of it being Adam-Lilith). There's
not much in the series to lead one to believe this is how Eva's are
"cloned" from their sources. As you say, the test Eva we see in episode
21 isn't being constructed this way...

Might as well be - the image doesn't really change much in the grand
scheme of things.

I still think this is more of an aesthetics issue than anything else
(the room looks almost to have a fish-eye lens look to it). I don't see
any reason to believe the two are in other rooms - based on Lilith
having an elongated torso lying nailed to the cross and Eva-01 having
the same lying at what very much appears to be the bottom end of a
cross...
The bigger question is: Why doesn't Lilith have an arm? :P
(Hmm.. Didn't Rei lose her right arm in EoE, too?)
