Not a sub-nazi, I much prefer to watch my anime with decent-quality dubs.
However, when the dubbing detracts from the overall experience I settle for
the sub to mantain the quality. Anyone who has seen badly dubbed Slayers
knows what I'm talking about. ;)

The EVA dubbing overall is eh, ok. There are a few miscastings, though, that
brutally ruin the drama. Maya and Ritsuko are two that stand out as poorly
cast. I would like to be able to pay more attention to the pictures than the
words when I'm watching EVA but given a choice between an eh dub and the
original voices, I'll settle for the original. :/

Now when you are japanese and can already understand the language . . . I
just don't see the reason to check out english dubs except to laugh at the
mistranslations and the like. ;)
