   the original line i think doesn't seem to work as well because it
   ...  implies an ongoing conflict, i guess? kimochi warui of course
   still asserts something, but it seems more resigned. it works
   better as denoument. this is my intepretation, anyway. =)
   
Yes, it can be a fairly nuanced phrase.  Many anime characters in the
throes of a hangover will say ``kimochi warui''.  *That* sort of
``kimochi warui'' makes sense at that point, too: Asuka's just been on
a trip that makes a night of serious drinking look like a teaparty.
