"Only Asuka could rape a man," Shinji laughed bitterly.

Yeah, I remember that one. Freaky as hell. I think it was the same fic, what
happened to Rei at the end.

Yeah, here's the section.

<quote>
Perhaps she had been waiting for them, there on the ground by her apartment
building. She was still dressed in her middle-school uniform. She was
smiling, a
real smile, showing every one of her teeth. A distracted part of Shinji's
mind
told him that it was the first time he had seen her smiling like this, with
her
eyes wide open and her hands clasped in front of her.
Ayanami Rei was a perfectly articulated set of bones, lying on the cement,
staring up towards where her apartment had once been. "Nobody knows what
happened," said Kensuke. "Maybe she lived through it, and somebody just told
her
to go home. Maybe she came back here because it was home for her. I, I
hadn't
thought about it before. Someone told me a couple of months ago that there
were
some human remains here in the city, but nobody had gotten around to
recovering
them."

Dark as hell, and I think the most tragic ending for Rei ever written. Most
fics dealing with EOE portray her as she was in the movies, like a tool with
a dark and terrible purpose, an initiate goddess awaiting her impending
ascention. This ending strips her of all such pretense and leaves her for
what she is, an emotionally abused girl who was robbed of her humanity by
the man who brought her into existence. Rather than asserting her own
independence through an act of freewill she simply remains behind, a relic
of the past, buried beneath the same dust that covers the rest of the
Evangelion Project.

Heheh, about as out of character as you could get, yes? :)
