No one is debating that point.

Well - here's the thing. Kaworu is a "clone", like Rei, with the form of
Lilim and the soul of a Source of Life.
Kaworu cotains Adam's soul.
Rei contains Lilith's soul.

How do we know? The Director's Cut footage explicitly states it:
