But Asuka goes full strength against the MP EVAs for 5 minutes. And this 
explanation would make the entire Sea of Dirac episode impossible, as only 5 
minutes maximum is allowed.

Anyways, the power display shows 5 minutes of power at maximum power usage, 
so Ritsuko is immediately shown to be wrong.
