[EVA] "Useful/Useless" Manga Question (for Bochan, technically)

It has been so long ago that I cannot recall exactly, but I think the wording was
different.  ("tsukaenai" vs. "yakutatanai")  Gendo's words during the Dummy vs.
Bardiel battle were much harsher than in ep1.

I think it has more to do with Kaji's sermon about the potential lethality (to
others) of a person's action or inaction.  Shinji thought that he only hurt people
by piloting Eva, but Kaji made him understand that even more people would be hurt
(die) if he didn't.  (ie: the lesser of two evils)
