About the pronunciation of Evangelion (Eh-va, Ay-va etc). I might be
completely wrong, but it depends on the accent of the voice actor. Neither
is wrong, in my opinion. It could be loosely compared to the way British
(myself) pronounce ‘tomato’ (To-mart-toe), and the way Americans pronounce
‘tomato’ (To-mate-toe). It would also depend on how the person pronounced
‘evangelical’ (with an ‘ee’ or an ‘ay’ sound at the beginning). So, I don’t
think there’s a specific way to pronounce it, given that it’s based on a
European word . . .

As for Kaoru, I don’t have a clue. Ask the Japanese. :P
