Well, I think the fact that Amanda Winn-Lee can
gleefully champion the change of the *slap* sound to a
gunshot in Death because it "sounded like a slap" (cuz
it *IS* a slapping sound!) speaks volumes about how
good of a director she is. I also hate the way the US
dub is edited. Maybe it's because I've been listening
to the Japanese timing and pacing for 6 years, but the
English doesn't flow right. imnsho.

I also find it scary how they alternately point out
all the changes they made and then say how faithful
they were to the original. Uh, yeah.

At the point Winn-Lee commented that the reason they
gave the flamethrower guy a worthless and horrible
line was "Strictly for my own amusement! Yay!!" I
wanted to throw a shoe through my television.

Not going to disagree there, except to say that I do
like Allison Keith as Misato. She started out shakey
in the TV series, but as it went on I think she
adopted the character well - and she does a good job
in the movie.

Too bad Amanda Winn-Lee had to inject "fuck" into her
final speech to Shinji. It totally kills the mood.
