Sorry, but a little sarcasm is needed here...

Gee, that must explain why they had to make the "alternate" TV ending on
such short notice after being censored by TV Tokyo and the PTA groups.
After all, it wouldn't make sense to do all that work on the "originally
intended" ending (ie: early version of EoE including storyboards and some
drawing work) if they didn't plan for the series to end that way...

As a side note, Boogiepop Phantom was also affected by the TV Tokyo and PTA
censors, although nowhere near the extent that Eva was.
