I may be a month or two off, but I remember hearing last June how they had the material and were doing the dub. Which would mean they've had the stuff for over a year. I also remember hearing that the dub was finished by the fall and they were holding up the release to get an Anno directors commentary... @_@ Needless to say, it'll be roughly a year after the dub was 'supposedly' finished that the thing is finally coming out. (keep in mind that since Manga never made any official press releases anyway and that this was from last year, I may be off by a month or two) A year to prepare meaningful extras and thats all? Its not so much that I'm dissappointed that there aren't many extras; a high quality version of EOE is all I really want, but when they've delayed the thing time and time again its really absurd that there's not much there, causing us to wonder just what was holding them up all this time.

>Mind you, while I wish Gainax was faster in getting the production
>materials to Manga, I can tell you that Manga screwed Digby in
>announcing ship dates before having the materials in hand. I've said
>it before and I'll say it again : people bitch at ADV for not
>announcing until they have finished product, but THAT'S THE WAY YOU
>DO IT.

When was it that Manga bought the license for the movies? I'd figure with all the money they paid for it and thats its such a high profile release, they'd be demanding it from Gainax as fast as possible. Frankly if you are right, and Manga was just sitting on their asses while Gainax was taking forever to send them what they paid so much money for, it speaks volumes about how mediocre a company it is. I honestly think that these movies won't even be making Manga the money back for the license/production costs they paid out due to it coming out FIVE years after it came out in Japan, with the popularity of the show not close to the level it was a few years ago, which is either unfortunate or very good depending on how you feel about Manga :P
