[EVA] Eva episode #4 edited?

This week end I thought I'd start watching all Eva subbed from the
beginning - all US. (is there a translation script for Anno & Sadamoto's
interviews on 0:0 anywhere?) By the time I reach EoE, pacing it right,
I'll have the VHD &/or DVD).

I read in the Anime Encycloedia that the scene in episode #4, where
Shinji is on that train, that 2 schoolgirls get on, and have their
skirts blown about by a draft from slipstream, showing panties :P
Shinji does not notice being too self-absorbed.

In ADV's version, that scene fades to black.

I'm wondering if the scene is genuinely reported, ADV got an edited
version for Japanese TV, &/or the unedited version is on Gainax's
LDs/DVDs. If so, which?
