[EVA] [Fwd: Subs or Dubs ?]

I personally love Sub better. I don't know what it is...But it often sounds 
like the Japanese VA take the characters more to heart. Like it's not just 
them reading off a few lines. I mean, like for instance...The EVA Episode 
when Gendo ordered Unit 01 to use it's dummy system to annihilate Unit 03. I 
don't know about you...but the moment when Shinji saw Touji's battered and 
near fatal state. And then that scream he let out....The American VA wasn't 
even close to the level of anger that, the Japanese let out. 

Anyway more onto this Sub/Dub thing. It's funny...When I first started out 
into Anime when i was 12 (I'm 21 if your wondering) Back then I didn't care 
if it was Sub/Dub just as long as I had Anime. What is also funny is...I used 
to prefer English sometimes... just because it was easier to manage. Although 
most of the times the voices were plainly annoying.

I had a friend in college that was also a fellow Otaku and we would always 
have this argument. He would swear me up and down that he never would buy a 
Dubbed Anime, and back then I didn't know why. Cause you know on VHS, Dubbed 
is always cheaper and back then I really didn't have the funds to be 
extravagant with my spending. Plus, I had this Anime craving that would never 
be satisfied, so for the main thing I had to make do with what I had.

The American Dub of DBZ changed all that. That was what really changed my 
opinion on Sub/Dub. I mean looking at the American version, compared to the 
original. Sub kicks it's A$$e$ repeatedly, uses Dragon Balls to resurrect 
them, then kicks their A$$e$ again. Oh yeah, let me say....I HATE AMERICAN 
DBZ!!!!!!

After that I've noticed, that didn't apply to only just DBZ but a lot of 
other Anime's as well. I mean I've found that Subs always seem to capture the 
feeling of the moment precisely. Where with some really good Dubs grab it a 
few times. But still it's a few times. Anyway, now I don't do anything unless 
it's Sub. My some of my friends say I'm an Elitist. I just say "F*** U" And 
keep moving it's my personal choice you know...

In closing...(man I hope no one thinks this is a rant or anything) But In 
closing, this Sub/Dub thing, I've found that...a lot of newbies or people 
just being introduced to Anime tend to prefer the Dub versions, probably for 
the same reasons that I wanted Dub before. Now this is just my personal 
opinion mind you..but this is something that I have observed. I have also 
noticed that the older people that I talk to, that have years and years into 
Anime seem to want their Sub... And I think I've joined that little clique.

For me, I think just being a Sub-Purest...(hey I like the sound of that) 
makes me feel that I've attained another level into Anime. I mean...I do like 
some Subs. Tenchi Muyo...Pokemon. (SCREW YOU!! YEAH I SAID IT!!) Gundam Wing, 
The Orion Akira dub. And a few others....But I'm for sub above all else.
