Something that I think is an interesting parallel, I just realized after
rewatching episode 1 last night that when Unit 01's hand blocks the falling
I-beams, one of them goes spinning straight at the window where Gendo is
standing and he doesn't even flinch.  Perhaps in both scenes he is placed at
the window to show how dedicated he is to the project, even to the point of
being killed for it?
