:
: >OK. Question 1: about the 18th angel explanation. Is the dub
explanation
: >Misato gave same as the subtitled one, better or worse? I bought the
sub
: >VHS so don't know.
:
: For the movie? Dub and sub are the same, both are incorrect. Go to
: www.evaotaku.com for a correct translation.
Seen & memorised! Makes a difference, but not to AWL obviously!
Just watched the whole dub explanation on Manga's "trailer" web site,
including Hyuga's "moderation" speech. Talk about spoilers. :(
:
: >Presumably SEELE is referring to Gendou having Adam embedded in his
: >hand.
: >Do you think Kaworu had already made his mind up to give the fate of
the
: >world to Shinji.
:
: Oh yes, but this scene also makes Kaworu into an idiot. He is told
that Adam
: is inside of Gendo, but still gets confused when he sees Lillith.
Stupid
: ret-cons...
I always wondered about Kaworu's confusion. Maybe because Lilith did not
have a female shape then. If Rei is her soul, and a soul defines a
being's personality, then Lilith would just have been a physical body,
living organic "clay" maybe, without recognisable form.
Do you think that contributed to Rei III denying him entry into Lilith,
the rejection of Adam/Gendou by Lilith/Rei? I can't remember when
exactly Gendou fused Adam into his hand. It it was before Rei III was
"awakened", then her breaking of his glasses would be the first sign of
her rejecting his authority.
:
: But I think that Kaworu knew that Shinji should get the future from
the
: moment he met him. The jerk.
He seemed to know all about Shinji from the start. I hope Sadamoto's
manga gives more background and personality to Kaworu than the anime
does.
Eva seems about people who have neen neglected or mistreated by family,
lover or authority, and who themselves continue to do the same (Anno's
personal agony maybe). SEELE ignoring, or being unaware of the
compassionate side of Kaworu is no big surprise. The closer an angel
becomes to being human....Perhaps also the attraction of Adam to
Lilith/Lilin as well.
:
: What also disturbs me is that SEELE sent Kaworu to die. Their plan was
to
: make sure that NERV destroyed him. I wonder if Kaworu knew. He might
have,
: but wouldn't have cared.
The choice was always his IMO. He is not so blindly obedient as Rei II,
probably the angel part. Rei III of course was defiant of authority as
well.
:
: >I couldn't help but smile at Misato's comment to herself :)
Presumably
: >the can in her hand is beer, but I guess it could be coffee.
:
: It is coffee. Coffee comes in cans in Japan. Misato did give up
drinking.
: One drug for another though...
I thought it might be. I think you can even buy hot coffee in cans from
dispensing machines in Japan. Must taste foul :) When did Misato
actually say she gave up drinking. If it was unspoken I imagine it would
have been after reconciling with Kaji's fate, and her feelings for him
taking on his mission to find "the truth".
