It's not that strange...Gainax products are very popular, and it is 
unlikely that the US Market (don't know it very well, but it is larger than 
the Italian one indeed) won't see them in a short time...by eliminating 
subtitles, Gainax forces large portions of this market to buy licensed 
titles, limiting losses to ADV, Manga or whoever due to imported 
titles...and, "probably", english is almost useless to japanese people 
purchasing a japanese product...
