[EVA] Rahxephon and the big E?

I’m sort of writing my bit from general remembrance of all your replies, so
this isn’t really a reply to anyone in particular, but my opinion with bits

Granted, I’ve only seen the one episode of RahX via a crappy digisub (then
it got licensed), but it definitely made an impression. I’d be lying if all
the pretty animation, design and music didn’t affect my opinion of the show
but on a different level, a deeper one so to speak, it caught my attention
in a more subtle way than Eva did. I think RahX has a lot more mystery
about it than Eva did to start with. Of course, the mystery in Eva became
more apparent later on but RahX’s style and presentation surpasses Eva and
makes it much more intriguing. But ultimately, more shallow. Eva’s flaws
(aesthetically or otherwise) made it the high standing anime it is to me
today. RahX is almost too polished (like it has a fake tan, or some equally
weak metaphor) and it undermines the real intentions the show may be trying
to portray – the human or 'real' side.

A lot of fans find it hard to think outside of the bubble that is
Evangelion, because it is such an involving (and very respected – therefor
hard to question) show. Most of the time those fans are the ones who
haven’t seen much anime before Evangelion and don’t realise the almost
blatant ‘copies’ of other shows Anno used (because most of them are quite
old, to be fair). One I find weird no one has vocally picked up on is
Misato and Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell (the manga version).
Misato is almost identical to Kusanagi down to their hair colour, jacket
and rank – same sassy attitude as well. :P Anyway, I digress. My point is
Evangelion is far from infallible in most respects so all the naysayers
about RahXephon should keep that in mind when they go on about how
‘groundbreaking’ Eva is. It’s one of MANY.

RahX only has some original content? Sounds like Evangelion and every other
mecha anime post-Transformers.

Like someone has already said about other ‘Eva rip-offs’, RahX and Eva’s
similarities are pretty superficial. RahX, in my opinion, is unique and
engaging in its own right. Fan boys need to realise there is life outside
Evangelion, and RahXephon is a good place to start. I prefer FLCL myself.

P.S. Nadesico was great.
