Grain of salt time.

It has of course been recently admitted by sources close to anno that no
one on the staff was really thinking in religious terms when appropriating
kabbalistic and christian imagery for use in the series.  The kabbalah is
apparently just a useful symbol of a complex and mysterious plan, and
everyone of course likes images of crucifixion, which even show up in
sailor moon.

As to the angel names, I suppose they used Hebrew because names like
"Azrael" and "Tiriel" just sound cool.

"Oh my god!  It's the seventeenth angel."

"No, you can't mean..."

"Yes...Cupid." (DA DA DUM)
