while i agree that this is not a show about the cabbala, to say it like this 
seems to dismiss a lot of the hard work and creativity that was brought in 
making these elements work so seamlessly within the narrative. while using 
the cabbala as a base to interpret eva's meaning isn't viable, it is in 
terms of interpreting its events, right?

i also think that anno's researches must've been deeper than your average 
creator who thows in judeo-christian (or anything) imagery as 
window-dressing. the cabballistic influences on eva are nothing if not 
pervasive and cohesive.

see above. i think that you belittle evangelion somewhat to suggest its 
cabbalistic trappings are equivalent to the garbage japanese we see on 
t-shirts.

again, i'm not saying that it's very meaningful for intepretation of 
evangelion, but i feel like someone has to speak up to the quality of its 
implementation after this legnthy discussion. =)
