i think you've misinterpreted my statements. i am not suggesting that
evangelion is a cabbalistic anime. in fact, i said:

"using the cabbala as a base to interpret eva's meaning isn't viable..."

i do not feel that the meaning of evangelion is meant to be interpreted
through the cabbala. or that the events in evangelion are meant to have
religious resonance, even.

what i am saying is that i felt that people were downplaying the quality of
its implementation in an attempt to dismiss its percieved meaningfulness.
these concepts are not necessarily linked. the implementation of the
symbols, myths, and events of the cabbala and associated texts is quite
ingenious and thorough. it is very impressive to me. i felt that dismissing
it by saying "it's not meaningful" was doing a disservice to the creative
work that is evangelion.

your own example of K' from KoF is precisely why i made my point. that's a
tossed-off, effortless implementation of christian imagery. the
implementations in eva are impressive. all i was suggesting is that we
shouldn't dismiss their implementation along with dismissing the idea that
they are meaningful.

all in all, they are not relevant to the >meaning< of evangelion. but can't
we talk about the artistry of evangelion? the creative power of the show?
that's a deep, abiding draw to it, for me at least. it's also something that
doesn't get discussed on this ML very often.

i think you're just willfully misiterpreting my statements.
i mean, you yourself quoted me saying it's "not very meaningful for the
interpretation of evangelion." how plain do you want it?
