[EVA] (ML) German ties to EVA

Does anyone know why Eva has so many german ties, NERV, SEELE, GEHIRN,EVANGELION, and EVA are all german words, NERV means Nerves, SEELE means Soul, GEHIRN means Brain, EVANGELION is a messenger of god, and eva is the german name for Eve. Was thos done in order to make look cool the ways that the Jeudo-Christianitic ties were said to. or is it something else?
