And I believe we had this discussion a year or so ago. I think Bochan said
that the translation is "one of those things" where there isn't quite a
*perfect* English counterpart to the Japanese. If I remember, the sentiment
was not quite "love" in the standard sense, but stronger than "like."

Also, the dialogue to which you refer takes place between Misato and Shinji
after Kaworu's (bodily) death.
