>From what I have heard, the Manga translator has boasted about how
"perfect" his translation is and how all the mistakes in fan-translations
have been "corrected". However, I have also heard of some IMO rather
serious mistranslations and inappropriate wordings. Like the translator
for Mononoke Hime (sorry, I forget his name), I have a deep distrust of
anyone who says their translation is perfect. (I check other people's
translations all the time as part of my job, and have yet to find one
claiming perfection that was really any good.) Most experienced
translators will tell you that a 100% perfect translation is impossible.
Even my script was billed as the "most accurate currently available", and
left open for suggestions.
I have yet to see/confirm the Manga translations and hope the rumors I have
heard are false. Otherwise, I would have to disclaim any responsibility
and, in standing by my current version (which admittedly does need minor
tweaking in a couple of places -- nothing major though), wash my hands of
the project.
